Andy Dick Suffers Apparent Overdose, Video Shows Bystanders Trying to Revive Him
Comedian Andy Dick Slumped Over After Apparent O.D. ... Video Shows Panicked Efforts to Save Him
Andy Dick is in dire straits ... the troubled comedian suffered an apparent drug overdose on the street, and this chaotic video shows people in his Hollywood neighborhood rushing to save his life.
TMZ has exclusively obtained video of Andy slumped over on cement stairs outside a building in Hollywood in broad daylight Tuesday. As you can see, Andy is completely out of it, with his signature spectacles lying on the ground in front of him.
Eyewitnesses tell us several of Andy's friends ran up to try to revive him. One happened to be live-streaming as he approached, and screamed at Andy to "wake up" ... while others called for an ambulance.
You can hear a bystander shouting for someone to grab Narcan -- a life-saving medication used to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses -- and it appears someone on the scene did indeed administer the nasal spray.
A rep for the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ ... paramedics responded to the location for an overdose involving a 59-year-old man. The rep said the man was not transported to a hospital.
Often when Narcan is administered to an overdosing drug user, they regain consciousness immediately ... sometimes refusing medical attention and able to walk away on the spot.
It's no secret Andy's been dealing with substance abuse for years and has had numerous run-ins with the law.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene after receiving the same overdose call.
We spoke to Andy by phone Tuesday night ... he tells us he's alive and relieved he's okay but he wouldn't elaborate on what happened, or what drugs he took.
